Bridges of Madison County

I went through a romance period with my books. This book is surprisingly short, yet the author is able to pack in the ultimate love story. Tragedy in love sticks with you longer than happiness, and it was certainly true in this book. A National Geographic photographer happens upon an unhappily married woman and the two begin a love affair that lasts but a few days. Each has found the love of his or her life, yet circumstances keep them apart. The most touching sequence is the end as the woman’s children find her love letters and piece together their mom’s doomed love affair. This book can be read in an afternoon, but stays with you much, much longer.
